Jen Rastle, LVT
Hospital Manager Jennifer Rastle has been working in the animal care field since 2002. Also a licensed veterinary technician, Jennifer's been part of our valued staff since 2007.
Jennifer feels that the quality of medicine pets receive at VSES is exceptional, and she is happy to be part of a team that is so very dedicated to animals' health and well-being as well as the support and education of their owners.
In her free time, Jennifer likes to exercise and walk her Pitbull mixes Moses and Hudson. She also has three cats named LuLu, Scarlet and Tripod.
Samuel D. Estes, LVT
Medical Staff Supervisor
Having grown up on a farm, LVT Team Leader Samuel D. Estes has spent his entire life caring for animals. He joined Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Service in May of 2008 and since that time has been an invaluable member of our emergency and critical care team. “I enjoy working for the emergency service I like the one-on-one care I can provide critical patients and knowing I am doing all I can to make the patient healthy again,” he says.
In addition to his many years of experience, Samuel has an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Alfred State College. He also has a menagerie of pets that includes two cats named Gizmo and Fluffy, Bearded Dragon named Norburt, and two Texas Longhorn Ox named Rob and Rie. Samuel’s interests include playing soccer, running, working on his model train layout and working outside on his family’s farm.
Jen Gargan, LVT
Medical Staff Supervisor
Born in Rochester and raised in the Southern Tier, Jennifer has been working in the animal field since 1998 and became a licensed veterinary technician in 2001. She joined Monroe Veterinary Associates in 2002. In addition to her LVT supervisor role, she is the neurology specialty coordinator.
She enjoys helping animals and their owners as well as working in a fast-paced emergency environment where you never know what will happen next. She especially takes pride in the medical aspects of her job, such as placing catheters and drawing blood.
She shares her home with many pets: Riley, a Pitbull mix; Saphyra, a Pitbull; Austin, a Pitbull/Bull Mastiff mix; Paige, a Manx cat; Phoebe, a domestic shorthair cat; and Oliver, a Siamese mix cat.
During her free time, Jennifer participates in animal fundraisers. Austin, her Pitbull/Bull Mastiff, loves to join her in helping animals, too! She also enjoys obedience training, yard work, scrapbooking and playing ball or Frisbee with the dogs.
Elizabeth Kirchner, LVT
Client Service Manager
Elizabeth Kirchner has been a valued member of the VSES staff since 2004. She holds an associate's of applied science in veterinary science technology as well as a bachelor's of business administration in veterinary hospital management, and she is licensed as a veterinary technician in the state of New York.
Elizabeth, who has worked with Monroe Veterinary Associates since she was 16, has always been interested in emergency medicine. A member of the New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians, she loves training her young Boxer / Pit Bull mix Yoshi and also has a long haired beige tabby named Tater. She likes to spend her free time outdoors and enjoys hiking and going to the beach. Her hobbies include reading, photography and scrapbooking.
Evelyn Schug, LVT
Evelyn Schug has been working in the animal care industry for over 10 years. A full time member of our staff since 2004, she is a licensed veterinary technician and is fond of the fast-paced environment at VSES. She enjoys meeting pets and their owners and is proud to be able to make a difference in their lives.
Evelyn's four-legged companions include Boadi, a female Staffordshire Terrier mix, and Mouse, a female Corgi mix. When she is not helping to care for animals at VSES, Evelyn enjoys gardening, listening to music, spending time with her dogs and traveling as much as she can.
Christine West, LVT
Medical Staff Supervisor
Born in Warsaw, New York, and raised in Pavilion, New York, Christine joined Monroe Veterinary Associates in September 2008, but she has been in the animal field since 2006.
Christine has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Technology Management. When it comes to her job, she thrives knowing the high standard of care she and her colleagues provide pets. She also loves working with great people every day.
Christine shares her home with Neville, a Golden Retriever, and two cats, Freckles and Abby. When not at work, Christine spends time gardening, baking, cake decorating, camping and playing cards, board games, softball and kickball.
Hospital Communications & Office Assistant
Lindsay started as a full-time administrative assistant with VSES in December 2013, but she has worked in the animal field since 2007. She received a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Behavior.
She says the best part about working at the Animal Hospital is that "there is constantly a lot going on and so many people bustling around. There is never a dull moment!"
Her love of animals and busyness does not stop after work. She and her husband have quite a few animal children to manage at home. The list includes: five dogs: Tippy (Border Collie/Lab), Twiggy (Terrier mutt), Trapper John (Papillion/Jack Russell), Tanka (GSD, Heeler) and Tilly (Boxer); five cats: Nemo, Gidget, Ace, Laila Ali and Feta; a Mustached Parrot named Whiskey; two mice named Seely and Sweets; Schmidt the Corn Snake; Yeti the Teddy Bear hamster; a Blood Parrot Cichlid named Jaws; and a few foster cats/bunnies at any given time.
